How do you call for your superhero?

If your superhero is Batman, you would send this…

Superman will hear your cries for help and just come to you…

If you need a whole team to handle your crisis, you simply holler “Avengers Assemble!”…

And if you really need Wonder Woman to come babysit for a few weeks until daycare is available,
you send out this message…

Stay tuned for our next episode of Nana Mission: Babysitter

Memorial Day

The bugle echoes shrill and sweet,
But not of war it sings to-day.
The road is rhythmic with the feet
Of men-at-arms who come to pray.

The roses blossom white and red
On tombs where weary soldiers lie;
Flags wave above the honored dead
And martial music cleaves the sky.

Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel,
They kept the faith and fought the fight.
Through flying lead and crimson steel
They plunged for Freedom and the Right.

May we, their grateful children, learn
Their strength, who lie beneath this sod,
Who went through fire and death to earn
At last the accolade of God.

In shining rank on rank arrayed
They march, the legions of the Lord;
He is their Captain unafraid,
The Prince of Peace...Who brought a sword.

-- Joyce Kilmer

Enjoy your Memorial Day, and as you gather with friends for a barbeque and camaraderie, take a moment to remember the men and women through out history, who have given everything they had to give in service to our country.

For all our military personnel, I wish to say “Thank You” for your service and hard work. You are appreciated!

Nanas are the people who take delight in hearing babies breath into the telephone…

It has been brought to my attention that my status in the Nana club is tenuous. It seems there there are certain expectations in my job as Nana, one of the most important being Bragging, and I have been reminded that maybe I haven’t been doing enough of that. I have waited too many years to be a Nana to let a slip like this be my undoing.

So without further ado, let the bragging begin:

Don’t worry Lil Prince, Cappy misses his mouth, too, sometimes.

Someone is ready to Skype with Nana! Yay!! Nana LOVES to Skype!

Whadya mean you have to wash my blankie bear??

One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, GO BABY GO!!

Yay! We’re going to the park today!

Mommy says I have strong legs already!

This sure feels good on a hot day.

Even babies have bad hair days, but it’s nothing a cute hat can’t fix.

Whew! It’s a good thing I have a picture or two dozen to share, otherwise I might get kicked out of the Nana club and that, my friends, would be a travesty.

No one travelling on a business trip would be missed if he failed to arrive…

Last week I went on a business trip with CGMan. First of all, don’t ask me what kind of buisness CGMan does, because I do not know. It involves lots of meetings and business trips, of which this is the only one I’ve been on, and fancy dinners, to which I’ve been to a few. The people he works with talk a lot, using words like DOEJGB and MEHGIU and GYWTF and OIEKTH, which I think are places or organizations, but sometimes it might be a work plan. He also uses big numbers like 3.5 million and 2 billion. And something about the government. He wears a little American flag on his lapel, so I’m pretty sure it is our government. You know, the USof A government. He bitches a lot about the way they do things, so yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s our government.

Anyway, he had to go to a conference in Tampa, Florida and I got to go, too! We drove, of course, and took the dogs. They were not invited to the conference, nor were allowed at the hotel, so we left them with Granny & Papaw, who live just north of Tampa.

Traveling with two dogs is always fun. We played lots of road trip games, like Who Cut the Cheese?, Farts are Funny, Pass the Gas and my personal favorite, Guess what flavor dog biscuit caused this scent?

Even Zoe couldn’t stand the smell. Other than the flatulence, the girls are good traveling companions, and don’t mind touching every now and again or sharing a bed. Unlike some other travelers we have had with us in the past. (Hello Marine, Girl and Skater! Yes, I mean you.) Oh, and Zoe and Phoebe both love when I sing!

After we dropped them with the grandparents, we headed on down to Tampa for the conference. CGMan had a busy week ahead. Busy with business. Let me just say this about hotels that cater to business travelers, if you’re going to charge $17 for a waffle, at least have the decency to provide free internet. And if one is paying for wireless, it should be for every wireless device in the room, not $40 per week, per computer. GAH!!

For the whole week, each day, CGMan would get up, get dressed and head to the conference next door. There were lots of seminars, 564345_3141770019431_1303431809_n and very important speakers, 528465_3151347978874_1120355990_32306499_298592006_a and boring luncheons to attend,
IMG_3278 and classes to take, IMG_0152 and vendor booths to peruse IMG_3275  There were also a few mixers in the evenings, where businessmen get together, shake hands and talk in acronyms while trying to look important. 72935_3147356999102_1120355990_32304742_1498994356_n If his boss is reading my blog right now, I want you to know, CGMan took the conference VERY seriously. Seriously.

After “work” one day, CGMan took me to the Kapok Tree Inn, which was a favorite stop for his family when they vacationed here back in the old days. It’s closed now, but the gaudy lavish gardens are still there. I can just imagine what this place looked like in the early 60s.

Oh man, if I owned this place, the things I would do!! At one point, we had our faces against the glass, looking inside one of the buildings, which was equally gaudy lavish inside, when a woman walked through, showing what I can only presume was a potential bride, the lovely gardens, and the two gnomes with their noses on the glass. Aw-kward! I didn’t mind, though, I love being a tourist.

Kapok Tree Inn is also one of the places in my Roadside America quest. Roadside America is my road trip bible. I even have an app on my phone, so I don’t miss anything. It has, among other things, the lists of the balls of twine, muffler men and real haunted houses for every state in the United States. My goal is to see them all! Here were a couple others I checked off the list:

Largest bowling pin and big, ugly, metal fish. Apparently it doesn’t take much to be an attraction for Roadside America.

After a week of brutal conferencing, we left to fetch our dogs. They were having such a good time, I didn’t think they’d want to come home with us. They may be dogs, but they know a good gig when they have one, so they jumped back in the truck without hesitation.

Thanks Granny & Papaw for watching your grand-dogs while we went on our business trip. Maybe I’ll get to go on the next one, too!

Now that I know how much fun a business trip can be, I may have to get one of those jobs!

Bahahahaha! Had ya going there for a minute, didn’t I?

A good snapshot stops a moment from running away…

Over the weekend, I took the girls to the dog park. While we go every day of the week, they especially like the weekends because there are plenty of other dogs to play with.

It was a beautiful, warm day and it was so fun to watch the dogs playing in the water and chasing balls. As I was tossing rocks in the water for Phoebe to bob for, I noticed a bit of drama going on in the background. A dog had crossed the creek to the other side and couldn’t (or wouldn’t) come back. He kept barking for his mom to come get him. I had my camera out already, because I don’t have near enough pictures of my own dogs, and took some pictures of the doggie drama.

Come on! Come back across. Pleeeze?             No.

Well, I just don’t know what I’m going to do with you.     Maybe a cookie?

Okay, you’ll catch me, right?

Sike! Haha! Try to get me now!!

You still love me, right?

After watching that, I was thankful my dog can’t swim. She’s not very good at bobbing for rocks, either, but I keep that to myself.

Don’t be afraid to whip out your camera and catch life’s little moments.

Wordless Wednesday…with some words…

I like wordless Wednesdays. It gives me a chance to show off some pictures that I have cramming up my phone. Let’s see, since you’ve alread...
