Breast cancer is not something everyone is comfortable talking about. I get that. But not being comfortable talking about something has never stopped me from talking about anything. I am
cursed gifted like that.
Every year, for the last couple of years, I have used the Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October to remind all of you, my breast friends, to schedule your mammograms and do your monthly self checks.
You might remember me telling you that you didn’t have to run marathons for the cause in 2009. You may also remember last year’s reminder to shop pink. Did you notice that I totally forgot this year! And no one said anything? I cannot believe it.
It’s not that I forgot about breast cancer. How could I? My ORMom is a warrior. I shopped pink. I did not run a marathon, but I cheered for all those who did. I just forgot to post about it.
In the past, I have reminded you what you can do to help with the fight against breast cancer, like shopping and running and whatnot. This year, with the help of my bloggy friend Janice at Where the Fur Flies, who posted it first, we are going to remind you that the fight starts at home, with you.
Early detection is the key to survival.
We got this video from a group called Rethink Breast Cancer who are based out of Ontario, Canada. While the message is serious, do your self exams!, they put a fun spin on it, so we will not forget. In fact, they even have an app you can put on your phone, to have one of their helpful assistants remind you every month.
Breast cancer really isn’t funny.
Please schedule your mammogram.
