I did not sign up for this…

For anyone who has known me longer than a week, probably knows that I don’t like the cold or snow. I think it’s pretty clear just from the name of my blog:

“DAWN IN AUSTIN”

It doesn’t say “Dawn in Denver” or “Dawn in Detroit” or "Dawn in friggin Michigan”  (sorry, Meg. No offense)

Austin, Texas. Deep in the heart of Texas, right? Where cattle, cactus and cowboys live. Okay, we have more hippies than cowboys in Austin, but the point is, Austin doesn’t do snow.  Trust me, I checked before we moved here.

Snow

I think there must be some mistake.

  1. Whoa! And yet...aren't you the self-professed Christmas fanatic? How can you have Christmas without snow?? Hmmm?

  2. After three years in the Caribbean, I found it to be surprisingly easy to have Christmas with no snow.

And also too, for me Christmas is not about the snow... it's about the cookies. :)

  3. I am composing a strongly worded letter to God and Mother Nature regarding this very thing. We are not pleased.

  4. That is a strange one! We don't do snow here either. I think it was sometime in the 1980's the last time it snowed? Good luck with that and wait it out before you drag out your tire chains :)

  5. Yesterday it was 70 in Boston. I think we are warmer that you guys! (Not for long I'm sure, once you say it, the blizzard will follow....)

  6. Um...hate to be the bearer of bad news but friggin' Michigan doesn't even have snow yet. What's going on Texas?!?

  7. From the sands of the Arabian desert to the snows of Austin, TX. Nah, that doesn't sound right. There must be a mistake.

  8. But, doesn't snow scare scorpions?

  9. Oh my lordy woman, it's one day. It'll be pretty. Enjoy. :) High of 19 here tomorrow, and snow. Yeah, I'll be inside, puttin' up my Christmas tree. With hot chocolate. :)

  10. I just realized that your snow was supposed to be yesterday, and today is ... today. So did it actually snow?

  11. Just don't go outside. Or look out of the window.
